Opening Up

This proposal seeks to open up the club’s boċċi pitch to the adjacent public space, the removal of past unsympathetic accretions to the historical fabric, including fortification edges, and provision of better public space and amenities around the club. In this manner, full visual permeability of the fortifications will now be released from the public space running along the pitch. The design also proposes the conversion of the neighbouring dilapidated building into the club’s administration centre, accompanied by a catering facility that seeks to animate the surrounding urban space and provide a more active frontage to this newly upgraded public realm.
