Resident First: Guidelines on Sustainable Mobility

This publication by STUDJURBAN, in collaboration with the Local Councils’ Association Malta, forms part of the Association’s Resident First vision under the pillar of Sustainable Mobility. Authored by STUDJURBAN’s founder and director, Dr Antoine Zammit, with additional input from various team members, the document consolidates four years of in-depth studies aimed at transforming Malta’s urban mobility landscape.

It presents a comprehensive and actionable strategy focused on five key areas: walkability and accessibility, last-mile transport, parking management, shared mobility, and the transition to electric vehicles (EVs). With Malta’s high urban density and short travel distances, these guidelines highlight how more equitable, environmentally-friendly, and people-first mobility systems can significantly improve quality of life for residents.

Whether you’re a policymaker, urban planner, or engaged citizen, these guidelines provide practical steps and data-driven insights to reimagine local transport in ways that prioritise sustainability, inclusion, and liveability.
