Sustainable Mobility: Guidelines on Parking Management

Malta is the most densely populated country in the EU, with 424,904 registered vehicles at the end of December 2022 (CEIC, 2022) – most of which are passenger vehicles. Current parking management systems are not coping with this pressing issue.

However, following last week’s panel discussion for the launch of our publication: Guidelines on Parking Management by Antoine Zammit and Julia Johannsson in collaboration with the Local Councils’ Association Malta, we discussed a number of strategies that could lead to potential solutions in the short-medium-long term, framed in view of more sustainable mobility. We now hope for a concerted effort by all, including Government, to ensure that a clear road map is set and implemented.
